Brooklyn Bowl London - London, UK on 29 Sep 2014

Had such an amazing night! Despite being over 1.5 hours late, she came on stage and made me completely forget her punctuality.
The mixed up tracks were refreshing, her vocals were stunning, her acoustic set was beautiful and her energy was contagious.
Everything I expected and more. Honored I can now say I have seen the legend that is Lauryn Hill sing live on stage! Feel blessed!

Well after 3 hours of waiting for lauryn she began her very interesting repertoire, it was definitely different and for several people disaponting as none could sing along with her-she was singing those tunes 100kph- which I though it was amazing in a way. Hands donw she is true talent, her voice is like no other. So after her Kaye moment where she was going back and fort with members of the audience she sang the rest of great songs. Had a good time but the late factor was disappointing. Still love her thought

First off Lauryn Hill... suppose to be on at 9 didn't show up till nearly half ten... stood for nearly 3 hours only to have to leave to catch a train to leeds was gutted to leave but if she had come on stage around 9 would of been okay. Anyways overall disappointing and the reviews afterwards were mixed and for her to ask what our problem was .... er try being over an hour late FOR YOUR SHOW and then have a cheek to say we need manners, I think its Her that needs manners and to show fans some respect we pay to see an artist not an empty stage..

Awesome show, found it pretty surreal seeing her and her band! They absolutely nailed it, such impressive improvisations/jams and I really liked the creativity that went into the different renditions of the tunes. People often don't appreciate how hard it is to do what they did! Lauryn didn't miss a note. What a human being :D True artist. Loved every second.

Second half more enjoyable than the first. Annoying how Lauryn plays the songs we love so differently that we are unable to dance or sing a long. The only time we could accurately sing a long and dance was juring tge Bob Marley portion of the show.
It's great seeing Lauryn develop old material in new ways but it has really been at the expense of the fans. £40-£50 to see a show where you can never really get into the feel of the show is poor.

      Tap1 - Copenhagen, Denmark on 17 Sep 2014

I wish I could say with enthusiasm how great Lauryn Hill's performance was. I felt like I was at 5 different shows: rock concert, gospel sermon, hip hop show, acoustic soul, and reggae. Hill's energy was fantastic and I wasn't expecting such an upbeat, eclectic and lively performance as I know her most for her acoustic and hip hop performances but I was pleasantly surprised. However... The wait was ridiculous. The opener was pleasant, but the hour of played-out oldies afterward completely killed my vibe and excitement. Finally we all got excited when the DJ came out who actually played good music, but interrupted the songs so much with his comments that I couldn't even enjoy it. And after attempting to hype the crowd for Hill's performance with a 45 minute DJ set, we were left waiting for another 45 minutes before Lauryn came out!
The crowd that was once rowdy and rambunctious awaiting Hill were becoming more and more visibly upset, myself included. By the time Hill came out you could tell people were mad (there were even "Boo's" at some points during the wait). I was ready to sleep, not be jumping up and down. Luckily her performance did not disappoint, but the wait completely killed all my enthusiasm. As great as the show was with the fun band and the beautiful energetic background singers, I can't say I would ever pay to see Lauryn Hill again, unless it was at a festival on a strict timeframe.

Stadtpark Freilichtbühne - Hamburg, Germany on 09 Sep 2014

Stadtpark Freilichtbühne - Hamburg, Germany on 09 Sep 2014

      First:
New location, because only "few" people wanted to see Miss Hill.
From Hamburg Stadtpark-Freilichtbühne (space for about 3.500 People) to Große Freiheit 36 (space for about 1.000 people).
Entrance on 19:00, waiting hours for the Diva, "buuuh" shouting, whistling and calling for Lauryn from 20:30 on.

Then at 21:20 (think so), they thought it would be a good idea to send a DJ for heating up the audience, but it was really really really the WORST DJ in the World. He was playing almost every Song from Lauryn Hill and many others. Worst Transitions from one song to another, missing the real breaks for "singing with the audience", it was really crap. I was ready to throw something on the stage, because i was already pissed off ...
My thoughts: "could someone please bring the Diva or Princess on stage!"

22:15 - the "princess" appeared on the stage with remixes of her old songs, that have been really poor.
She doesn´t seemed to be in good condition or fit enough to give a concert. Her Voice was really low and only a few times in "old condition".
She seems breathless with no power and was always arguing with the Man who is in charge for the Sound.

Wow, Lauryn Hill was my Dream when i was a teenager, now this was a little Nightmare. I´m very disappointed.
Sometimes it´s better to stay at home and keep your dreams alive instead of watching them, years later ...

This concert was amazing! I never thought I would have an opportunity to see her live. Her voice is still beautiful and she was full of energy. I don't know why people complain about her coming out an hour and half past showtime...I have been to other concerts for other artists and it was the same way. The DJ was incredible as well. Yes some of her songs had a remix to them but it was something new and still had touches of the regular versions to them. She even slowed it down for a few and played some of her unplugged music! Everyone around me was still able to sing along and dance and I was in front row looking back at the crowd who was doing the same!! She was worth the wait and then some. I even got lucky and was able to meet her :) She took the time to take pictures for those of us who was still there and signed autographs. She is so genuine and kind hearted. Legendary and revolutionary... We need more artists like this today. It was a night I will never forget!

She came on an hour and a half AFTER the opening act ENDED. Concert starts at 7:30 and she didn't begin until 9:30. Seriously! What is it that she is doing that she has to be so disrespectful to the fans that have paid tickets even though we all know she's only performing to pay her taxes that the rest of us pay. But, we're that big of fans that we went anyway, and with so much excitement and energy! I'm so disappointed in her! It was a week night. People work, have babysitters, have traveled to see her. It was disrespectful. I MIGHT have been able to put that into a distant memory, but then she changed the composition of all her songs. Unbelievable. No one would pay $65 to hear a concert in the sweltering humidity of the day to hear all new songs. Not one person within my sight was singing because we couldn't. They were new songs to us. The lady sitting by us that warned us she'd be singing all her songs and apologized early in case it was obnoxious left early!!! As the concert progressed, people just sat down all around us and just watched as if it was a movie. People even stopped dancing and moving to the music. I've never been to a tamer concert. The crowd was more excited, on their feet, upbeat, and hopeful while the DJ was spinning. I would never pay to go to another one of her concerts. I'm just disappointed that she showed so much lack of respect and concern or care for her fans. For her to ignore the music that her fans came to hear is the most selfish thing an artist can do. I've never seen so many people get up and leave during a concert. She has an amazing voice and talent,no doubt. Unfortunately, she didn't play one recognizable or singable song of HERS! Such a shame. Clearly, she didn't rate well in Portland either.

She was great. Her performance was beautiful. However the venue failed her. It was EXTREMELY HOT and there was very limited sitting. I feel sick due to upset stomach because of the heat and back pain because of standing for a long time. Got there at 7:15pm but concerted started at 9:30pm.

I left when she was singing the 3rd song!!! Sad and frustrated. Felling really sick, it was too hot, no AC, saw just 2 fans in the entire room. The concert started after 9:30pm, the DJ wasn't good! I felt as an idiot, invited my husband for his first Lauryn Hill concert, we got there at 7:30pm, I thought I wouldn't be able to make 'till she come... Spend the money I saved the all month... Never going to be in this place again! Sad, 'cause I really like her and wish could get closer to the stage, but I was tryin' to be close to the only fan in the ballroom...

LAME! TOO HOT! CRAZY HOT! All five of the folks i came with all left very early in the show after feeling faint with upset stomachs from the heat. Doors opened at 7.00 and she didnt hit the stage until after 9.30 leaving most of the crowd to wither away in the heat. Not what i was expecting........ She looked great!

Those of you that missed this made the right call. started with a DJ that simply played records only adding shit over the top of shit in order to make it unmusical. So late going on and then a very lack lustre mediocre performance. The band was ok but there was no connection between them. It was more like a jam than a show. The bv's did a reasonable job of adding some musicality as sadly Lauryn was so out of tune.

If the guitarists should have focused less on their dancing and more on looking at the drummer who was trying to hold the tunes together. Amazed at people who like something because the person is famous and not from here. Covers of her tunes that I have seen performed by WAPA kids with thrown together late night grove bands were so much better than this effort.

SHAME SHAME SHAME to all involved!!

Most amazing concert ever! Ms. Lauryn Hill is a true RnB/Hip-Hop/Soul LEGEND! Not only does she have spunk and groove in her incredibly powerful, soulful, and aerobatic voice, she really moves on stage in a way that makes you feel her energy and joy. Many months ago when I first read in The Music that Ms. Lauryn Hill was coming to not only Australia but PERTH I nearly cried with joy - Lauryn Hill is one of my biggest soul/RnB inspirations for me as a singer, even though I'm mainly a jazz, swing, blues singer (www.facebook.com/poetofjazz). Lauryn Hill's courage to speak the truth and be political really appeals to me and shows me what it means to be a powerful human being. At the last minute my gf Maneera de Mel decided to join me for the concert! We rushed to get a last minute ticket but, naturally, they were all sold out. But we managed to get one from a kind lady in Fremantle. Anyway, long story short, when Lauryn Hill walked on stage IT WAS AMAZING!!!! She performed with such INTENSITY and ASSURANCE and a real JOY to be on stage and be singing while her beautiful daughters watched her. She did all our favourites, especially from the Miseducation album: Killing Me Softly, Everything Is Everything, Final Hour, To Zion, Lost Ones, and Ex-Factor. Then she even did songs from Uplugged 2.0! Mr Intentional, Adam Lives in Theory, and O Jerusalem. She then surprised us with a rare song Just Like The Water. Then she did songs made famous with The Fugees including Ru-Gee-La and Ready or Not! The venue managers had already begun trying to get her offstage but Ms Hill wasn't backing down. She treated the already frenetic and adoring crowd with MORE! Bob Marley's Could You Be Loved, then a reprise of Killing Me Softly, and then Doo Wop (That Thing)!!! It was during her final song they began muffling and turning off her mic. The audience kept singing for her! Shame to the person on sound & lighting - through most of the concert Ms Hill was not getting the sound she needed to hear through her foldback and during the intimate part of the show they took minutes to bring the lights back and when they did it wasn't quite right but what a true show woman, she kept going. After her mic was off, Ms Hill finished the song and almost had to go but her AWESOME band kept playing a funky killer outro. Then members of the Hill family came on stage for a special occasion. Out came the birthday cake! Her daughter tried to ask the audience to sing Happy Birthday but the venue refused to turn the mic back on. Regardless, we sang! And then, Ms. Lauryn Hill gave MORE to her fans!!! Maneera and I had been FRONT ROW & CENTRE for the whole show - even getting a smile & wave from the back-up singer we met earlier! But then Ms. Hill did what you can only hope for - SHE CAME TO MEET HER AUDIENCE/FANS!!! She took time as she walked by the front to individually speak with and listen to and HOLD HANDS with her fans!!! Maneera & I BOTH got to hold and thank Ms Hill. She was GENUINE and when I asked her to sign my Ms Education album cover she was OBLIGING!!! However, I'd lost the pen earlier that evening but a kind person lent me one and then her daughter took it to her and returned it to me (someone tried to pretend it was theirs and steal it but I yelled out THAT'S MINE! and the daughter brought it back to me . THEN Maneera said, "Get a song prepared Babe, I'm gonna get her to sing with you. I'm gonna make your dream come true." And, just like she did when I told her many, many years ago about dreams I have, SHE MADE IT COME TRUE! "Sing one sentence with him, please! One sentence!" I launched into "A Change Is Gonna Come" and SHE SANG WITH ME! Ms. Lauryn Hill sang with me!!!!!! She smiled and said "Keep singing, baby." That's how the concert ended for me - with encouragement from Ms Hill to keep singing and with my most wonderful, encouraging, BEAUTIFUL, and supportive girlfriend Maneera de Mel right there to celebrate it with me.
